Gluconolactone (PHA)

What it is

A polyhydroxy acid. Larger molecule than AHAs, so it exfoliates more slowly and rarely stings.

What it does

Gentle exfoliation, plus antioxidant activity. Good starter acid for sensitive or barrier-compromised skin.
